Provence Roadtrip 1 – Lyon

As piscinas do Ródano em Lyon. The swimming pools of the Rhône in Lyon.

The first stop in this trip was actually not in Provence, but in Lyon. (It was love at first sight. Ok, second, because during the first one I was too tired from driving.) On one side, the old quarter perching down a hill with its feet in the Saône. On the other, the plain covered with geometrically designed streets and classical buildings torn by the magnificent Rhône. I think the intimacy of the Sunday morning I spent there caught me off guard. To watch the locals slowly starting to fill the half deserted streets, walking their dogs, shopping at the popping-up markets, catching up with each other over a sleepy espresso… Intimacy is unmerciful. It may even make us fall in love.

La Fourvière e o Saône.
